Many interactions with the API allow (or require) you to pass a host ID, which will determine what hosts are affected by the action. For example, you can pass a host ID to fetch metrics for only one database, or to configure an Alert to be triggered on that host. To find a host’s ID, you can hover over its name on the Inventory page in DPM, or use the Hosts API.
